The History of Richmondale

Richmondale was named after William Henry Richmond, who was born in Marlborough, Hartford County, Connecticut, in 1821, and educated in private schools. He was a merchant and coal operator who began conducting business in Peaasylvania in 1842. He was a menber of the Lackawanna Bible Society (Treasurer), the American Institute of Minimg Engineers, the American Jersey Cattle Club and the U.S. Geographical Society.
