Beginning Genealogy Workshop at Forest City Historical Society The family historian can find themselves easily turned around in a maze of accurate and inaccurate resources and wonder how they will ever make
sense of their ancestors’ lives. The Susquehanna County Historical Society and the Forest City Historical Society will present a Beginning Genealogy Workshop to help solve some of these dilemmas.
The two day event will be held March 4th and 11th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Forest City Area Historical Society located at the 633 Main St.
Presenters Sue Bennett Dyson, D.A.R. Registrar, and Bonnie Yuscavage, Research Assistant for the Susquehanna Society, will focus on many topics including: finding, evaluating, and documenting sources; understanding the Genealogical Proof Standard; using indirect evidence; recognizing naming conventions; joining lineage societies; and understanding and using DNA results.
Registration is required and may be made by calling the Forest City news at 570-785-3800.
The fee for the class is $25, payable at the event, and includes a folder of valuable resources.
A pizza lunch will be provided.
